Gig Pigs have been lucky enough to see cats In Space twice in recent weeks as they promote their latest album ‘Day Trip to Narnia’. First was at the Ebbw Vale Institute, supported by Infinite Space Theory’ then, just a couple of weeks later, we travelled up to the Tivoli in Buckley, North Wales for the penultimate show for the Tour of Narnia Part 1, which also was Paul Manzi (vocals) penultimate show as the Lead Cat. At this gig, the cats were supported by local band Wasted Fate and Jimi Anderson, who brought his band from Scotland,
All the bands we saw supporting the Cats were worth seeing. We were particularly impressed with Jimi Anderson, who we had not had a chance to see before this.
The Cats were, as they always are, phenomenal. They are 6, who become 1 when they perform, making it a show that reveals the talents they have crafted on their years in music. They have a style that is their own, with harmonies aplenty and some seriously tongue in cheek lyrics that seem to poke fun ad the industry the country, social media and world politics.
If you haven’t seen the band - I can only assume there will be a ‘Tour of Narnia Part 2’ coming to a venue near you soon. They are going from strength to strength. The album is a great listen, With half being stand alone tracks, and half being ‘the Story of Johnny Rocket’. It will be interesting to see how a new lead vocalist will fit in - as we write this, no announcements have been made.
